NFL sacrificing popularity for greed?

As I sit here and watch college football over the past three days, I begin to realize why College Football is so popular. It is easy to find on TV.

You can find college football games on three different ESPN stations, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, Fox Sports Stations and heck even FX. At any given time through out the day you can find close to ten or more college football games on TV at one time. That is not even giving any mention to ESPN3.com where you can watch countless amounts of college football games on there live or on demand later, all for free.

It makes me question, why can't the NFL do this too? Are they too greedy? Would they rather have their NFL Sunday Ticket deal and forget about the fans?

Could you imagine on Sundays instead of seeing ten hours of bowling or strong man events on ESPN, we had NFL games at noon on CBS, FOX, ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2 and NBC. Then the same option of games at three followed by Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football.

If you are a fan that roots for a team away from your home state, you can't even pay to watch games on NFL.com live because of this deal the NFL has with Sunday Ticket. Trust me, if I had that option, I would be glad to pay for Denver Broncos games every week, but I can't. NFL.com will not give the fans that options because money from DirecTV means more to them.

It is time for the NFL to stop auctioning off its games to the two highest paying stations each Sunday?

Do you feel the NFL would increase its revenue six times more than what is brings in now if it had games on  CBS, FOX, ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2 and NBC through out Sunday? Think off all the ads and money companies would pay to the NFL if they KNEW their games were going to be shown on TV each and every week.

Maybe I am missing the bigger picture here, but to me it feels like this is the best way to go, not only for the NFL, but for the fans who don't get to see their teams. What are you thoughts on this? Let me know!
